The “Queen of Unicorns”

Any person interested in the beauty world has surely heard about Doe Deere and her fun hair colors. Also known as the “Queen of Unicorns,” Deere grew up in Russia before moving to the United States at the age of 17. She lived in New York till for a few years where she joined a band and studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). She currently resides in Los Angeles and has her own successful cosmetic company, called Lime Crime.

Deere has always been an entrepreneur. Even when she was 13 she was successfully selling take tattoos to her classmates. She eventually went on to be a musician in New York City where she got interested in makeup. Deere always liked unique and fun colors especially when she started her own fashion brand in 2004 on Ebay. A few years after that, Deere decided to make her own makeup and noticed that a lot of people were gravitating towards her product and in 2008 she created the official Lime Crime brand. Doe Deere’s main philosophy for a person starting their own company is to go with what makes them happy. She enjoys how makeup and different hair colors make her feel and she uses her fashion background from FIT in New York to capitalize on her passion.

Her company, Lime Crime is certified vegan and cruelty free, which means that they never test their products on animals and that the product does not include any animal products or byproducts. The company is even listed on PETA’s website and passed multiple inspections to become Leaping Bunny Certified.

Deere gets her nickname, the “Queen of Unicorns” from her unique product colors. She sells bold hair dye with colors ranging from bright pink to bright blue and if someone is interested in the color but doesn’t want to do their whole head, they can buy a sample pack. The lipsticks have even more choices as some are filled with glitter to create a metallic look.
